Vocational Education
In 2021, DYPA established seven new Experimental Apprenticeship Vocational Schools (PEPAS), in seven cities around Greece (Athens, Heraklion-Crete, Rhodes, Mytilene, Patras, Thessaloniki, Corfu), providing study programmes in three – different in each place – fields/specialties in the sectors of tourism and hospitality. More specifically, the specialties taught at the DYPA PEPAS are the following:
The PEPAS implement the Dual VET System, which combines school-based theoretical and laboratory education with company-based Apprenticeship (workplace-based learning with remuneration and social insurance). The theoretical and laboratory components are conducted from November to April, while Apprenticeship takes place from May to October.
The DYPA PEPAS can guarantee the placement of all their students in apprenticeships at distinguished businesses of the tourism industry (4 and 5-star hotels), also enhancing their employment prospects after graduation. Indeed, a significant percentage of PEPAS graduates are successfully integrated into the labour market.
